The Great Commission is very clear, and I think we all agree, that our mission is to take the good news to the entire world. Beyond that our agreement begins to break down. Assuming for the moment our only goal is to reach as many people as possible, how should we best go about it? Do we reach non-believers with mass events (crusades, Promise Keepers, etc)? Do we reach non-believers with weekly church services? Do we reach non-believers with small groups? Do we reach non-believers one-on-one? At TMC, we’re trying to place a lot of emphasis on small groups. Unquestionably, small groups give us the advantage of close relationships with people. But could we do more? Should we be trying to do evangelism with our small groups? Should we be worshiping with our small groups? Are there other activities we should be doing in our small groups? What’s the point of telling other’s about Jesus?  Why do we do it?  Does Jesus matter?  Similarly, why do we spend huge sums of money to send people to foreign countries to tell people about Jesus?  They may slave away for decades, enduring the persecution of local governments and cultures, possibly even risking their lives - and still see only a handful of new believers.  And then those new believers may have to face some of the same troubles.  Why do we do it?
